Chapter Story

The South Florida Story …

The TNF South Florida Chapter was inaugurated on April 24, 2016, during a South Florida Tamil Sangam event.

TNF Past Presidents Dr. PalanisamyDr. Rammohan, and Mrs. Sunantha Rammohan introduced TNF’s mission and emphasized the need for a strong TNF presence in the Ft. Lauderdale–Miami region. Their message laid the foundation for a chapter that connects the Tamil community in South Florida with meaningful development efforts in Tamil Nadu.

Since then, the chapter has steadily grown, focusing on education, scholarships, youth engagement, women empowerment, rural development, and the adoption of digital transparency tools. A major part of the chapter’s work supports the ABC Project in Salem District , helping students improve learning outcomes, gain exposure, and build confidence.

The chapter was led by Mrs. Malathi Palaniappan (2016–2020), Mr. Sivaprakasam Kalaichezian (2020–2022), and Mrs. Sangeetha Sridhar (2022–2024). Their leadership in earlier years contributed to the chapter’s growth and progress. The chapter continues to support scholarships, youth volunteer programs, women empowerment initiatives, cultural events, and digital transparency tools. The current board has also formed a Youth Club that includes many high school students from the United States, who actively support fundraising events and participate in volunteer activities for TNF projects in India. The chapter is currently led by Mr. Ramesh Sankar (Chairperson & TNF USA VP Projects), with strong support from committees, advisors, volunteers, and the South Florida Tamil community.
